Whittle It a Little, It’ll Fit

Odds and sods I look at regularly, just because they amuse me. I hope they do the same for you. Incidentally, I found this page’s title on Greg Ross’s Futility Closet (it’s somewhere on this page) in a mini-article which also includes the delightful sentence in Icelandic: Barbara Ara bar Ara araba bara rabbabara. Ross points out that this, “besides being fun to say, is spelled with only three letters. It means “Barbara, daughter of Ari, brought only rhubarb to Ari the Arab.”

Sunday 29 January 18:30:00 UTC 2017

5285435770001 On August 25, 1835, readers of the New York newspaper The Sun were enthralled by reports of life on the moon. An astronomer who had built a huge telescope reported lunar bison, moonscape meadows, and bipedal beavers. Readers ate it up, boosting The Sun's circulation—too bad it was a hoax. [Link]

Weird Universe » Most Expensive Pizza

Sunday 29 January 14:30:15 UTC 2017

New York's Industry Kitchen recently added to its menu what is being described as the world's most expensive pizza.

They're charging $2000 for the whole pizza (I don't think they sell it by the slice). For that you get a wood-fired pizza "topped with stilton cheese, foie gras, truffles, caviar, and 24-karat gold flakes."

Doesn't sound appealing, at all.
